I have started using twikini as a replacement for ceTwit for my windows mobile. I update my status regularly from twitter which links it to my facebook.

I have been using ceTwit for months now and when I have read about twikini from ppcsg, I immediately gave it a try. I like their smooth UI compared to ceTwit and it is really fast. ceTwit freezes my phone upon refresh which is why I don’t like it much.

The first version of twikini though caused a number of hangs on my phone where I have to soft reset it. After finding out that they have released version 1.1, I gave it a try and luckily that issue has been fixed.

I strongly recommend twikini as a windows mobile twitter client.

if you’re a movie/tv series fan and loves to watch them at home, i would recommend that you get a membership from gramophone. their biggest branch is located in the cathay mall near dhoby ghaut station. for just $75 for three months, you can rent any movie/tv series you want. i had my membership for the last three months and it was really worth it.

p2p in singapore

Most IT people will know about how strict the rules here in Singapore is regarding file sharing through P2P. I first heard of the story from a Hanselminutes podcast where both Scott Hanselman and Carl Franklin got letters because they have downloaded something which is copyrighted (if I remember it correctly, Scott has downloaded an episode of heroes, which is what I was also downloading back in Manila, right after it aired in US).

I have been warned by my friend to do not download anything from torrent, when news got out that a kid who downloaded a japanese anime and got fined for downloading it from p2p.

Eversince, I have never attempted downloading anything from torrent. They are saying that once you have downloaded from a peer to peer program, you are essentially redistributing the copyrighted material. Just to warn those of you who are still not aware of this rule.

fake diplomas

diploma was one of my problems applying in singapore since it is usually a requirement when applying work overseas. i graduated with a physics degree from a good university but without diploma (long story…). when i passed the initial screening for an investment bank, i was bothered whether they will still accept me given that i don’t have any college diploma in hand.

i have to admit that i had thoughts of going to recto to furnish a fake one but i’m glad i didn’t. my friend told me that there was an instance in singapore where a guy with faked diploma got into jail because of it. that made me decide to just tell to my employer about my situation and i’m glad that they still accepted me.

i heard/know a number of instances in the bank that i have been working for that some employees got kicked out because of fake credentials. ministry of manpower was the one doing the investigations whether the documents that you passed them are valid. just to show how really strict singapore is.
